Day 13 – Thru the Bible
Genesis 41-42 – Joseph’s story continues. Through a series of strategic conversations and events, Joseph works out in his brothers’ lives the same hard lesson he had himself learned from God—namely, that it is the adversity of life that softens us sufficiently to make us open to the Lord’s grace.
How have you experienced God using difficult times in your life to reveal His grace?
Psalm 13 – Here and in David’s others Psalms, we see a pattern of honest human emotion, and each time it leading to His remembering the steadfast love of God for him and confidence that God will come through. We have an even greater basis for such confidence because we know this salvation hope finds its final fulfillment in Christ, who provides “hope” that “does not put us to shame” (Romans 5:3–5). Such an honest prayer by David invites us to express all of our pain to our heavenly Father. After all, Christ’s substitution means that the Believer can never be rejected (2 Corinthians 5:21).
How has God “dealt bountifully” in your life?
